NVIDIA’s “Kal-El” is Worthy of its Name

I’m a heavy iOS user, but I’m familiar with the rapidly-approaching threat of all things Android. Today, my fears have not wavered much as NVIDA’s new Tegra 3 processor (Nicknamed “Kal-El”) was demoed.
After being announced earlier this year, “Kal-El” has lots to live up to as it is the first quad-core mobile processor.
The video below is a demonstration of how the processor handles an application that dual-core processors would struggle with. As you can see, it’s smooth – impressively so. The demo may seem basic but, as the demonstrator explains, there is much more going on behind the 3D graphics; the lighting and physics are all being generated in real time.
This is an impressive leap forward for mobile technology because this technology wasn’t possible in personal computers 6 years ago. For those that aren’t familiar with comic book mythology, Kal-El is Superman’s given name from birth. The slated to be ready in August.
