We all knew it was coming, but now Google has finally made it official: NFC-based Google wallet is real and coming very soon, with strong retail and financial backing from the likes of Subway, Macy’s, Walgreens, Toys ‘R Us, First Data, Citibank and MasterCard — with Sprint support on the carrier side. Though in the final testing stages right now, full deployment is expected for this summer on Sprint’s Nexus 4G to start, with support for other devices rolling out “over time”.

And that’s not all for Google Wallet; if Google has their way, mobile payments are just the beginning. It would eventually see everything from boarding passes to tickets to IDs to keys being stored on your phone — epic.

Stay tuned to this post as it will be updates as more information is announced!
