We just got news via a WIND Mobile press release that the new operator, only a year old, is now officially considered the fastest growing carrier in Canada. During Q1 of 2011, WIND Mobile added 39,000 new subscribers which was 30% of subscriber growth across the Canadian wireless industry. When that growth is adjusted to take into account that WIND’s coverage area is not as big as other brands and you only count growth within the WIND coverage area the share of the growth was a pretty impressive 50%!

Chairman of Glabalive Communications (who own and operate the WIND brand), Anthony Lacavera, was quoted as saying that, “”These numbers prove what we at WIND already knew - Canadians are tired of paying sky-high prices and want a real wireless alternative. It is proof that wireless competition has been long overdue and Canadians are sending a clear signal that they have opted for WIND because of a true value for dollar offering and a positive customer service experience.

WIND is planning on further network expansion in the coming year as well.
