Samsung Announces David Beckham As 2012 Olympic Games Ambassador

Samsung Electronics announced today that in their capacity as the Worldwide Olympic Partner for Wireless Communications Equipment that they have signed an exclusive agreement with world famous soccer superstar and icon David Beckham to be its global brand ambassador for the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games. Effective immediately Beckham will begin his ambassadorial role and will play a key part in raising the awareness of the fact that Samsung is a sponsor of the London Games as a Worldwide Olympic Partner - clearly it is working because I am writing this blog post, haha.
Part of the reason that Beckham was chosen according to Mr. Gyehyun Kwon the Samsung Electronics VP & Head of Worldwide Sports Marketing, was because of the common values that Beckham and Samsung share ranging from their mutual commitment to youth and their continuing efforts to encourage more people to participate in sports.
The press release also goes on to say that Beckham was Samsung’s number one choice to be global ambassador for the sponsorship of London 2012 so that sounds like a huge win for Samsung in the ambassador choosing department. David Beckham was also extremely happy to be signing the agreement, in the press release he is quoted as saying that he’s “very proud to be part of the team that brought the Olympics to [his] home city, London.” Beckham actually was born in the area of Leytonstone which is itself only a single “tube stop” (subway stop) from the London 2012 Olympic Park and he grew up playing soccer in that areas parks and streets so he has a deep connection with the area.
