Google, GUTGs, & Student Ambassadors Extend I/O Developer Conference To More Cities, Goes Global

Last week I told you about how Google extended their I/O Developer Conference to 11 North American cities and that viewing parties in these cities will be happening tomorrow. Unfortunately, those cities didn’t quite cover all the geographical areas of North America and obviously left out the entire rest of the world as some of you noted. Well, if you were feeling left out with no local event I have great news for you! I just found out that there are actually a TON more Google Extended viewing parties being hosted WORLDWIDE and for FREE by Google via their GTUG (Google Technology User Group) partners and Student Ambassadors.
Here is the way the site explains about these events (slightly edited but you can find the full text on the actual site linked below):
“…This is a way to still connect with other talented developers and watch the keynote and other major sessions live. Part viewing party and part community building, Google I/O Extended are free events focused on live-streaming parts of Google I/O. Depending on location, the event could also include local developer demos and other speaker sessions.
…Since these events are being organized by local developer community leaders and university ambassadors, please reach out to them specifically if you have any questions about the details.
Space is limited and registration is required.”
Being as the events are tomorrow I recommend you follow the links below to find the event in your city and register for it asap. I noticed in some cities there is actually more than one event going on to, so if you click the blue balloon in your city you may have more than one option. This will especially be useful if one event has already filled up.
To give you a sense of the sheer amount of events taking place I meshed together the world map (it wasn’t really viewable as one big thing) that Google put up on the site that shows these GUTG partners and Student Ambassador events (click it for full size 1834 x 813 view).
Hope you enjoy your local event! For all Canadians who are reading this blog, this means if you can’t get to Waterloo tomorrow you also have the option of the event being put on by AndroidTO at Bloor & Yonge in Toronto OR in Montreal.
