Apple has been in hot water with the American government once it was revealed that iPad and iPhones record user’s locations. When questioned why iOS devices track locations and Android devices don’t, Steve Jobs has allegedly retorted with a terse email saying “Oh yes they do. We don’t track anyone. The info circulating around is false. Sent from my iPhone”

While this is fertile ground for fanboys to spit at each other, the android community openly admits that they are aware that Androids also track users but the main difference is the option to opt-into the service. Either way, the lawsuits began to rear their ugly heads here and here. One news source openly accuses Apple of knowingly tracking because Apple applied for a patent that indicated this.

Well, all the questions of these two smartphone titans will all soon be answered as the American Government has called Apple and Google to a hearing on mobile privacy on May 10th. We’ll be following this story, please check back for updates.
