Today, I connected my Bell Mobility branded BlackBerry Torch 9800 to my computer to grab some pictures off of it and maybe re-install the OS just as a sort of spring cleaning when lo and behold a notification popped up! Seems that the leaked OS v6.0.0.534 (it started circulating the Internet a little over a week ago) has been made official by Bell Mobility here in Canada! So if you are a Bell Mobility BlackBerry Torch user, it’s time to connect your device to your computer and go for that official update awesomeness!

For everyone else, there is a direct link below to Bell Mobility’s & Virgin Mobile Canada’s official download pages. On those pages you can manually download the OS. In terms of larger North American companies which offer the Torch, in Canada Rogers and Telus are still showing 6.0.0.448 while AT&T in the USA has 6.0.0.526.

As I am in the middle of installing it as I write this I cannot tell you what kind of upgrades RIM (Research In Motion) maybe have made to this new OS.

Remember, if you are installing the OS on a non-Bell BlackBerry Torch that there are certain steps that need to be taken (such as deleting the vendor.xml file first). If you do not know what you are doing DO NOT just try to install it. Although this is an official release from Bell and RIM if you are not using a Bell branded Torch do some research first! (Once you know what you are doing, it is pretty easy to do, in my honest opinion.)
