Rogers officially launches the Samsung Nexus S; upgrades now live!

Well, folks, your day is here: Rogers has officially released the Samsung Nexus S. Now, you may be thinking: “big deal, another device Rogers can use as bait to lock me in to a long term contract”, while to SOME extent you are right; for once things are actually slightly in your favor with this one. Not only is it the first fully unlocked device to be released by ANY of the big 3 carriers — nevertheless Rogers — to date, it also comes with stock Gingerbread 2.3, as Google and Samsung wanted it; there is no carrier bloat-ware, period. Yes, that means no carrier pushed icons or apps on this bad-boy.
Pricing is as previously confirmed $99.99 on a 3 year voice and data term or $499.99 outright — so head to your local Rogers store or retail affiliate and pick one up!
Ha! Didn’t even have the chance to finish this post up and this screenie was sent through our tip line! What you see is the Nexus S popping-up on the Rogers internal upgrade screen as well. But remember: Don’t be swayed by the price you see above; as always, upgrades are based on individual plan, tenure and eligibility. The above just shows that Rogers has opened up upgrades to customers who walk-in or call.
