Mike Lazaridis Abruptly Ends BBC “Click” Interview

Just released video from the BBC shows RIM (Research In Motion) co-CEO Mike Lazaridis being interviewed by Rory Cellan-Jones, the BBC technology correspondent for the show “Click”. When asked about “problems with security” and “various arguments [RIM has] had with the Indian governments and a number of governments in the Middle East”, Lazaridis looks annoyed and says they have never had a security issue and that apparently this had already been discussed at some point previously. You can also hear a woman’s voice in the background talking to either Mr Cellan-Jones or Mr Lazaridis or both but it is difficult to make out what she is saying. Mike Lazaridis replies to Rory that RIM is being targeted because they are so successful and iconic.
“You implied that we have a security problem, we don’t have a security problem … we’ve just been singled out, because we’re so successful around the world. It’s an iconic product. It’s used by business, it’s used by leaders, it’s used by celebrities, it’s used by consumers, it’s used by teenagers, we were just singled out. Y’know? Just because of our success.”
The question is in the midst of basically being re-asked by Rory Cellan-Jones when Mike Lazaridis says, “Alright, it’s over, this interview is over. You can’t use that word, that just isn’t fair.”
