The folks over at SearchEngineLand uncovered this Google Mobile April Fools’ Easter Egg for iPhones and Android devices (I don’t say iOS because apparently it doesn’t work on the iPad). If you do a Google search on your Android device or iPhone for the “tilt” or “askew” (without quotes) the results will appear as shown in the SearchEngineLand’s screen shot included above - slightly tilted.

They say it is their “understanding” that it is an April Fools’ joke which Google is still running but don’t give a reason as to how they came upon this conclusion.

According to commenter tnfcngs on the original article if you go to http://www.google.com/m/search?q=tilt using any browser it will work too - Chrome, Firefox, or Explorer are mentioned (similarly for “askew” just replacing it for “tilt” in the search).I tried it on my own desktop using Chrome 10 (specifically v10.0.648.204) and using Internet Explorer 9 (specifically v9.0.8112.16421) and have included the screen shots below in the gallery (click them to expand them to 1920×1280).

This Easter Egg does not reveal itself when you try the search on the BlackBerry Torch running BlackBerry 6, (specifically v6.0.0.486) either by a straight Google search via the Blackberry browser or attempting to go to the link that works on desktop browsers (mentioned above). No word on if this works on Windows Phone 7, Symbian, or webOS but if you have one of those devices give it a try and let us know.
