Finally, it looks as if San Diego has a news anchor to replace the legendary Ron Burgundy from the Channel 4 News Team of the 1970s! So many pranks from April Fools 2011 are now coming to light and this one is definitely amongst the top I have seen yet.

Found on Reddit, a member named ‘mbreo’ posted a link to a YouTube clip of Raoul Martinez, San Diego Fox 5 Morning News Show anchor, playing an April Fools’ Day prank on his co-anchor, Shally Zomorodi. The prank featured an iPad app which purportedly allowed one to smell and taste beer via their device. Raoul managed to convince Shally to lick an iPad screen during a live broadcast. Once she realized she’s been punk’d - as the entire news room is laughing - she gets so angry she runs away from the set and almost leaves. Even the weather man gets into it after everyone in the studio sort of calms down and they start to move on with the news.

Still later, they kept up the conversation about it on Twitter too! (See below for links to their Twitter accounts.) Last I checked Shally is planning to wait til the whole hype over this video going viral dies down to get Raoul back and is hoping to enlist the help of Ellen DeGeneres sending this tweet: ”@TheEllenShow ELLEN! HELP! GOT PUNKED ON AM NEWS BY COANCHOR. IDEAS ON HOW TO GET HIM BACK?”

The app was made by the folks at Shock Top Beer (which looks like it is a real beer available in the USA) and is called Virtual Sip. It is available as a free download for both iPhone and Android and we got you the links below so you can start pranking your friends even though April Fools’ Day is long over.
