A few days ago the well known Canadian teen pop sensation Justin Bieber tweeted “Oh Canada I got a new b berry” along with a picture to his Plixi account of said BlackBerry (its a BlackBerry Bold so I assume it is a 9780). Justin Bieber’s news flash clearly puts him firmly in #TeamBlackBerry as BlackBerry users and lovers are referred to on Twitter. It also probably got a whole bunch of teen & tween girls running out to buy a Blackberry in the hopes of being able to someday get Justin Bieber’s PIN - if that PIN ever got out, THAT is a BlackBerry Messenger stress test I would love to see…the BlackBerry would probably explode or throw itself off a cliff after about 5 minutes.

It is also a show of hometown support by Bieber as Kitchener-Waterloo (where RIM, makers of BlackBerry is located) is a 50 minute GoogleMap drive and the closest large city. This is the kind of advertising that money can’t buy because everyone knows it’s real. This is especially true because Justin outfitted his BlackBerry with a special Canadian flag battery cover as shown in his Plixi photo. Last I checked the picture has been viewed 37,6053 times; the tweet mentioning it has been ‘retweeted’ - when a tweet is rebroadcast on Twitter - over 100 times, because that’s all Twitter will tell as the maximum number of retweets; been “Liked” on Facebook 294 times; and has been given a Thumbs-Up on Plixi 641 times vs 9 Thumbs-Down ratings.

I wonder if that phone is running on an American or Canadian carrier? What OS is Justin Bieber running? Is he on BIS or BES? Hmmm.
