Many a fan-boy proclaimed that RIM would be “shooting itself in the foot” if it hadn’t yet announced a release date for its upcoming PlayBook by the time Apple launched the iPad 2 this past Friday March 11th.

Well, Friday has come and gone and Apple — as many easily predicted — sold well into the millions of the hot new tablet, with nothing but tumble weeds coming out of Waterloo in response.

What you see above is a document obtained in the Pre Central forums (courtesy of an “unknown” major retailer) of a hardware release date schedule and waddya know? The BlackBerry PlayBook is the second one down, with pricing and a Sunday March 27th release date — hmmm, seems VERY suspect.

Despite being posted on a very reputable website such as Pre Central, my guess is to take this rumor with a grain of salt and go on enjoying your merry Monday, still with no official announcement.
