PowerMat Receiver Door For BlackBerry Torch 9800 Hands-On & Release Date!

You probably remember that at the end of last year I wrote a post which said the PowerMat Receiver Door for the BlackBerry Torch was due out in March of this year. Well I have an update on that post today which contains some good news!

We have a confirmed date from PowerMat as to when the product will be available in stores in Canada, MAY 2011. More good news is CellGuru got to play with the prototype of the PowerMat Receiver Door for the BlackBerry Torch this morning at a secret location so we know it is absolutely real and coming. Lastly, we have the pics to prove it! (See pictures above & below.)

What’s the boil looking thing on the side? Is that how it works?

What I want to know is what’s with the doors… They announced over a year ago that they are introducing just a battery to work with the mats. Here’s their official press release, but just googling “powermat ces 2010″ will give you many posts and pictures of them.

Nope, design is very awkward; I think that is why it has been delayed to the point where it may not ever release.
