FAQ: Poynt For BlackBerry 6 Reverse Lookup Work Around
As mentioned yesterday, Poynt updated their BlackBerry app to version 1.7.0.47 but this new version still doesn’t have support for Reverse Number Lookup from within the Call Log screen on devices running BlackBerry 6. With the newest version of Poynt on a BlackBerry Torch with operating system version 6.0.0.246 installed when you try to get a Reverse Call Lookup from the Call Log screen this message pops up:
“There is a known issue with reverse-call lookup on your OS. Please contact support for a work around”
Well now, as promised, below is the work around as given to us by Poynt and tested by us to ensure it works. But before we get to that the next question probably on your mind is: When will this be fixed?
Unfortunately, we don’t have such great news for you there. According to Poynt, they are working with RIM to resolve the issue but as it will “require modifications to the OS code [they] do not anticipate a resolution until RIM’s next upgrade of the OS.“
The Official Work Around:
2. Push the Menu button and select “View” then in the sub-menu that opens up select “History”.
3. In the Call History screen highlight the number and select it once again.
4. You will be brought to the Call Information screen (dubbed “View Call Log” at the top of the screen) for that particular instance that that number called (or was called) including the date, time, type, and duration of the call.
5. From that screen click the menu key and select “Reverse Lookup” as you normally would.
A Second, Non-Official Work Around Option:
Your second option is a work around that is just from our personal experience and not from Poynt. As well, this method only works for numbers not saved as contacts in your BlackBerry.
1. Highlight the number in your Call Log and push the Menu button, scroll down to “Copy +14165551212″.
2. Leave the Call Log and manually open Poynt.
3. Open the “People” category and scroll to “Reverse Lookup by Phone” and open it.
4. Click the Menu button and scroll to “Paste”, then select it.
5. The number from your Call Log will be pasted into the Reverse Lookup by Phone text box and you can then perform the search.
