For the first time ever, the DEMO Conference Tour will be coming to Canada on January 13th and Toronto is the lucky city which will be hosting it. DEMO, a conference for entrepreneurs to showcase their products/technologies in front of a group of potential investors, will be making this Canadian stop courtesy of sponsorship by Rogers Ventures, the division of Rogers Communication Inc. Rogers Ventures is the section of Rogers which helps fund Canadian startups and foster the growth and success of entrepreneurs in Canada by investing in them with Rogers’ money, time, and leverage.

The format for the event is they’ll be inviting up to 10 companies to present their new products or concepts in front of the DEMO team as well as venture partners from the partnering venture capital firms - in Toronto that will be venture capitalists, VentureBeat, and the DEMO team. Each company selected to present will be have at a minimum 30 minutes on stage divided into 20 minutes of presentation and 10 minutes of feedback. Their presentation will explain to the attendees why their product will change the world. According to the DEMO website the entrepreneurs must do this without any PowerPoint or flashy corporate presentations. It will be only the company founders and the company’s technologies on which many of them are staking their careers. Having been to a few conferences this sounds like quite the intriguing format!

Also, on the evening of January 13, there will be a networking event at the Century Room in Toronto where DEMO alumni attendees and demonstrators along with local entrepreneurs and VC’s will gather for a casual evening.
