As planned and as reported in November by CellGuru the company Motorola, Inc. has officially gone through with their split into two different entities today. Motorola, Inc has now become Motorola Mobility, Inc. and Motorola Solutions, Inc. trading as MMI and MSI respectively on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). The new companies are using basically the same old Motorola logo only one is red and one is blue. Also, it seems that Motorola Mobility is keeping Motorola.com whereas Motorola Solutions is the one who got a new URL: MotorolaSolutions.com.

Chairman and CEO of Motorola Mobility, Sanjay Jha, was quoted as saying, “We are pleased that Motorola Mobility has reached this important milestone. After more than two years of planning, today we begin operating as a financially strong, independent company trading on the New York Stock Exchange.”

The President and CEO of Motorola Solutions, Greg Brown, remarked that, “Motorola Solutions has an outstanding platform to build from and I believe our opportunities for growth will benefit customers, shareholders and employees.”

This morning, Mr Jha and members of the Motorola Mobility management team rang The Opening Bell™ of the NYSE and this afternoon Mr Brown and members of the Motorola Solutions management team rang The Closing Bell™ of the NYSE this afternoon to honor the initiation of trading of the two now different stocks.
