You probably remember CellGuru’s post and video from August about the PowerMat wireless charging phone system. Well, this holiday season, I found myself on the receiving end of a PowerMat wireless charging bundle, which includes a PowerMat and my choice of ‘receiver’ (the thing that makes the wireless charging connection between device and PowerMat) or ‘receiver door’ (their word for battery cover a.k.a. back cover which has a built-in receiver). My ideal choice would be a receiver door for the BlackBerry Torch as that’s currently my primary device but when I looked on the PowerMat site and a briefly glanced around the web I saw they don’t yet offer a Torch Receiver Door.

I decided to go directly to the source and email PowerMat Canada to find out if one was on the horizon. I was very happy when they got back to me in under 24 hours to tell me that the Torch Receiver Door will be in stores Early March 2011.

As I mentioned above, I looked around the web and didn’t see any mention of this accessory being released so I thought I would share my good news with anyone else waiting for or wondering about the PowerMat product that fits their Torch 9800. Your wait is almost over. (If you’re also wondering which receiver I chose, I chose the Universal Powercube Receiver.)
