Mobilicity Reports Gaining Over 50,000 New Customers In Q4, Announce $50 Rebate In Celebration

Mobilicity announced today that in the fourth quarter of this year - which was their second quarter of operations in Toronto and included operations in Vancouver, Edmonton, and Ottawa since mid-November - they have added more than 50,000 new customers to their growing client base in Q4 alone. The announcement does not include the numbers generated from the holiday sales period which has yet to peak. Continuing their network’s expansion Mobilicity also announced that they will begin operating their 3.5G network in another new market, Calgary, in early 2011.
Mobilicity President and CEO Dave Dobbin said with release of this news, “Mobilicity is thriving and is on track to account for approximately 10 percent of the Canadian wireless industry’s growth in subscribers this quarter with three of our key markets open for only six weeks” and that they see their growth “as a sign to continue chipping away at the high cost of wireless in this country.”
The announcement also gave word of a $50 mail-in rebate on select Mobilicity handsets and smartphones (specifics yet to be announced) purchased at authorized Mobilicity retailers in effect for a limited time. The reasoning Mobilicity gave for this special rebate is threefold: in celebration of passing the 50,000 subscriber mark in the fourth quarter, as a way of saying thank you to Canadians for their growing support of the company, and to encourage more Canadians to become Mobilicity customers.
