Bell, Rogers, And Telus Ink Contracts Worth Almost $200M With Canada’s Federal Government

Today, the Ottawa Business Journal let out the news that the companies commonly referred to as the Big 3 of Canadian Cellular - Bell, Rogers, and Telus - signed deals with the Canadian Federal Government’s Public Works and Government Services to the tune of $196.4 million combined. The breakdown of the contracts (in alphabetical order): Bell $33.86 million, Rogers $116.72 million, and Telus $45.82 million.
The contracts will include cell phones, cell service, accessories, PDAs (Really? People still use standalone PDAs?), and cellular modems. The figure of $196 million is more a prediction than a hard number as the purchases will be made on an “as and when requested basis”. According to the OBJ article the contracts are for four years with the possibility of 2 one year extensions.
