Alright, picture this: You run to the local convenience store to get your mid-afternoon snack on, you pull up, take some cash out of your wallet, leave your Android phone in the car, and run inside. All seems ok, right? Wrong. You head out content with your snickers purchase to find your car speeding out of the parking lot, sans you.

Yup, it happened. But funny enough the assailant was caught within 10 minutes, thanks to the multi-tasking power of Android and the app LookOut running in the background.

The app which normally acts as an antivirus/backup application, also happens to double as a phone finding tool by enabling you to ping the handset for its GPS coordinates from any browser. So basically as the car is on the road, Mr. Unlucky uses the store phone to call police, uses a computer to login to the app and locate his phone, and bam….police make an arrest.

Technology is beautiful, ain’t it?
