As promised in the previous post, more Mobilicity news for you today! Mobilicty is really coming out swinging this holiday season! Today, they have also announced that their customers can now buy a full year’s worth of unlimited minutes and text messages for anywhere from $199.99 to $359.99 depending on the plan you’re paying for in advance ($25/month, $35/month, or $45/month). The new option also allows you to buy your months in blocks of 3 (3, 6, 9 ,or 12) and the more months you buy at once the higher the percentage of savings per month which can end up being up to 33% worth of savings. (See table on Mobilicity’s site here)

This is an interesting move for Mobilicity as it isn’t quite a contract but it does get people to be signed up for a year. There is obviously no cancellation fee (as far as I can tell) because you’ve already prepaid for the block of months. Mobilicity is also marketing the bundles as great holiday gifts especially for “students, frustrated bill-paying parents, and other budget-minded consumers who are concerned with cash flow and are looking for much-needed peace of mind from a wireless carrier”.

VP of Marketing Sara Moore said that Mobilicity’s ”Multi-Months are the exact opposite of the Big 3 wireless carriers’ pre-paid offerings, which are known for penalizing customers with rates that are significantly higher than what their post-paid customers pay.”

As an example of the savings, 12 Multi-Months of service on the $25 unlimited talk and text plan with Caller ID and Mobilicity-to-Mobilicity calling, is priced at $199.99. If a customer were to purchase the plan on a month-by-month basis, the plan costs $300 over the course of the year.

Mobilicity Multi-Month bundles are available at Mobilicity stores across Canada and although this isn’t in the press release specifically I am going to assume they are also available at the other Mobilicity outlets: 7-Eleven, Zellers and select hmv stores in Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton and Ottawa.
