Show off the latest unreleased iteration of your OS, that’s what. Version 2.3 or “Gingerbread” as it is commonly referred to as was shown running on an unknown device today (rumored to be the Samsung Nexus S) at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco.

A release date with this teaser? Fat chance. All he was willing to disclose was a release in the “coming weeks”, even though we still sit and patiently wait for the SDK to be released as well before the thought of ANY phones getting it…namely the Nexus One.
