We reported last week that UMA (WiFi calling/TalkSpot) support would be coming to Rogers BlackBerry 9700 and 9300 customers through a software update, and this week it turns out the Pearl 3G will be getting the same treatment.

Obviously, you have to have a UMA-compatible voice plan for it to work, but if you do, you have unlimited Canadian calling without using your allotted monthly minutes wherever you have an open WiFi connection. Hello, Starbucks calls to Mom in Vancouver!
