Still having issues with your Torch? Maybe you should read this..

It’s somewhat arguable that the launch of the Torch on AT&T was slightly rushed. The OS 6 build at the time was a little premature, resulting in a decent amount of negative feedback from consumers. It’s really not uncommon for RIM to launch a new device with an early software build, and rush to release OS updates. Anyone who’s owned a BlackBerry from the release and has upgraded their OS regularly, has seen the drastic improvements in performance that firmware updates can and will bring over time.
It’s very rare that RIM releases a changelog with any of their OS updates so when they do, it’s because they’re acknowledging users feedback and want to alert consumers that they’ve taken some steps to improve the user experience. Yesterday AT&T official OS 6.0.0.246 was released for the Torch and the changelog is as follows:
- Browser – faster page loading and improved panning
- User input – handled more efficiently, improved responsiveness after unlocking device
- Applications – faster launching, exiting and switching
- Home Screen – faster rendering and smoother transitions when switching between panes
- Media – faster rendering of thumbnails in picture application
- Email/Messaging – faster and smoother scrolling in message list and when reading email
- Voice- Software improvements for improved audio quality
Most of the noted improvements have to do with speed, because lag was a major issue on the Torch. Keep in mind, .246 isn’t the end all be all OS for the Torch, but it is a nice stepping stone. Just be patient while OS updates turn your Torch into a whole different animal.
If you haven’t been prompted to update your Torch to .246, head over to blackberry.com/updates.
