You would think Canadians would be used to this by now?

A hot new device is released across all carriers and just like that (at most places before noon) the device is already sold out.

You can imagine my surprise to wake up today to a full inbox of friends, followers and desperate consumers wondering “Hey Guru, I’m desperate for this phone, can you help?”, sorry but I can’t.

What I have done however is taken the liberty to make some phone calls and found out a few interesting tidbits of information to share:

1. Many stores only received about 20 devices, most being sold to those on a waiting list.

2. No carrier got “preferred” treatment despite popular belief.

3. Many big box retail outlets such as BestBuy, FutureShop, and WirelessWave were all sold out before 11am this morning.

4. Stock on this device will be replenished a lot faster; within a week supposedly.

5. You may have better luck calling directly to customer service of your respective carrier to get the device than heading to a store, yes, I know you want it now, but that’s just how it is.

For all of you lucky enough to get one today I am interested to hear your thoughts?
