TheCellularGuru.com and SeanWard.net have a creative relationship like no other: when we meet up, magic happens!

What started over the summer with introducing both the site and the iPhone 4 to loyal Sean Ward viewers, has grown into a series of videos aimed at offering the people of our fair city a hands-on approach with devices they may not ever get a chance to play with.

Shortly after that video was filmed, the BlackBerry Torch 9800 was released in the US. Naturally, we got a unit of our own and along with Sean took to the streets again to find out what Toronto thought of the shiny new device. Unsurprisingly, most loved it.

Luck on our side, around the same time the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant was released by Bell, and well, you know what we had to do now…

Now, summer is over and class is in session. What better time to take to the streets again, this time with a different question in mind: “If given the choice of arguably the 3 hottest devices on the market, what device would the students of the University of Toronto choose?” The Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant powered by Google’s Android OS, the iPhone 4 powered by Apple’s iOS 4, or the BlackBerry Torch 9800 powered by BlackBerry OS?

The answer is clear: Canadian students love their BlackBerries.

While Android is finally breaking ground here and iPhone’s have their own die-hard users, Canada still has a soft spot for our own. Will this change? Probably.

As time goes on and Canadians are become more educated on the smartphone lexicon, Android will become more accepted and used, it’s inevitable. Until then BlackBerry should savor the moment as they strategically plan their much needed (and anticipated) next move.

cool video and the reactions are in line with just general observations of canadians. The one factor also differing from Canada and USA in this whole battle royal is….. duh duh duh.. the Canadian factor. RIM is Canadian, thus, a lot of people find pride in holding a Canadian product. I think thats a HUGE advanatge for RIM in Canada. It is something the others can simply never have.

I think the problem is samsung has a great phone, but there aren’t many carriers that have it. There is TOO many choices for android phones, no one knows what each phone does or what the features are. When you purchase an I phone 4 you know exactly what you are getting… there are about 4-5 galaxy’s that I know of and 50000 HTC’s I have no idea which is the best what does what and it’s hard to decipher all the bull crap that the manufactures say. Samsung needs to come out with ONE modle like the Nexus ONE, and simply upgrade it as they go but never change the basic design unless they call it Galaxy V2 and clearly explain that it’s faster looks better yada yada.

I agree, it is hard to determine sometimes.
I am however using the Galaxy S full time now… and enjoy it.
