At DevCon 2010 this morning, a RIM VP confirmed that the QNX OS is in the future for BlackBerry smartphones. This has been in heavy speculation since RIM acquired QNX back in April. I wrote on that subject last Tuesday, so take a look here if you missed it. Many of us bloggers and BlackBerry addicts were also speculating that the switch to QNX would be made for The BlackBerry 7 OS, but that may not be the case. The RIM VP suggested BlackBerry 7 would likely be a stepping stone to a full switch. Now you can take that however you want to… Plus plans in the smartphone game can change at the drop of a hat, so we’ll just have to sit tight and see whats uncovered in the coming months.
