I’ve tried out several photo editing apps for BlackBerry and most seem to provide minimal functionality and are tough to navigate. Some time has passed since I’ve used any photo editing app, so when I heard about MiniPaint, I decided to give it a whirl.

MiniPaint has the functionality to take any existing photo and add clipart, captions and text which all comes in handy for making funny pictures of your friends or loved ones. It also has the functionality to rotate, re-scale & crop photos which is useful for creating a nice profile pic or avatar. Furthermore MiniPaint has many image filters to change the whole look of your photo such as Sepia, Solarize, Invert, HSB, Gray Scale, Edges and others.

In my opinion, the image filters are where minipaint really shines. Some of the filters are customizeable in that you can change the levels/ratios as well. It’s really nice to be able to brighten up a pic or change it to another look right from your BlackBerry, instead of having to load it into a photo editing program on your computer to do so.

HOW TO USE:
Use the BlackBerry File Explorer for browse and select the photo you want to edit, then click the BlackBerry button and choose “Open with MiniPaint”.

OTHER FEATURES:
* Only can be opened images in JPEG and PNG format.
* The images must have a minimun size of your device screen (ex. 320 or 480) and no larger that 1600×1200.
* The image produced by MiniPaint will be always in JPEG format.
* This program uses a copy of your picture, there is no possibility of damaging their original pictures.
* The downloaded clipart is stored on your SD card, not on device memory. Make sure you have an SD card installed in your device.

When you pay you get a license key. You must register this license with MiniPaint so you get:

* No “minipaint” watermark on created images
* Unlimited clipart downloads
* More sizes, colors, fonts in the Text Tool, also bold & italic text.
