Fido to get its first Android device?

It seems as though Rogers is following in Bell’s footsteps a bit, having decided to re-launch the 2.1 powered Liquid E on their discount Fido brand.
When I say following their footsteps, I’m not implying that Bell ever had the Acer Liquid E, don’t get me wrong. Bell was the first carrier to launch an Android device to the discount market in Canada via their subsidiary Virgin Mobile, with the recently discontinued HTC Legend. What I mean is that Rogers launched the Acer Liquid E over the summer and though being great overall device, never got the attention (or sales) it deserved. So what do you do now? Re-launch it as a discount device, that’s what.
I think this is a great idea, and frankly should have been done from the beginning. It is a known fact that Fido customers have never had the best hardware to choose from, and to this day still don’t have an Android device to call their own. The Acer Liquid E is anything but discount, but, will add value to the Fido brand and should it do well, more will probably follow as devices reach their end-of-life status with Rogers.
We will keep you posted on this one.
