This Week In BlackBerry 7/25-7/31

There’s been a ton of talk this week about RIM’s first tablet device which is known right now as the BlackPad. It’s really no surprise that even the biggest BlackBerry followers are expecting the tablet to be a #Fail. Let’s face it, RIM hasn’t had the greatest success in the past when trying to follow in Apple’s footsteps. RIM arguably makes the best communication devices while Apple arguably makes the best entertainment devices. Both companies are working to become the best in both realms, but it is definitely going to take some time.
All Smartphones aside, it’s really going to come down to what you’re primarily looking for in a tablet; communication or entertainment. My guess is the general consumer market will be looking for entertainment. I’m sure the business market will pick up some of the slack, but there’s no way RIM’s tablet will do iPad numbers. One thing RIM does have on their side is Flash, but we’ll have to see how relevant Flash still is in November. I’m sure the rumored front and back facing camera’s wouldn’t hurt either. My question is, will the so-called BlackPad have a giant battery that you have to pull out from time to time? Hit the jump to see what you may have missed this week in BlackBerry.
