Interesting news out of Rogers today! Mere days after launching the RODO web portal, the company has announced plans to bring every FIFA World Cup 2010 to your iPhone, BlackBerry or Android smartphone via streaming video. The app is called Rogers on Demand Mobile. The regular use of the app will be $5/month, and to access the FIFA content, there is a one-time payment of $10.

Rogers has partnered with content providers such as Sportsnet (owned by Rogers), CBC and MTV to bring clips to your phone. Hopefully this will pave the way for Canadian streaming apps for the iPad, like the ones we see from ABC and Netflix.

Rogers on Demand Mobile is available for the Android, iPhone and BlackBerry platforms.

In addition, Rogers has made available the Fan Frenzy Mobile app for the aforementioned platforms. I couldn’t quote it better than Rogers themselves:

Make noise with one-touch sounds: “Ole, Ole, Ole”, “Goal”, chants and much more.
Bad call? You be the ref! Show a red card or call an offside with the Fan Frenzy app.

Check out all the mobile offerings from Rogers at their ROD portal and download the apps from either the Apple App Store, Android Marketplace and, on BlackBerry, the Rogers WAP portal.
