This week, there wasn’t a lot of Android rumours, but rather, Android Revelations, with word that this summer will bring the Sprint HTC EVO 4G and the Samsung Galaxy S. But there were a few things that came to light, and that includes various updates for various Android phones.

The Sprint Hero has been neglected in terms of updates lately (well, all Hero’s have been, but the HTC Hero has a pretty good development community that doesn’t let it go without updates for too long.) Rumours had it that the 2.1 update was coming to the Spring Hero today (March 26th) but now that has apparently been pushed back to April 9th, to correspond with a maintenance release for the handset. Another false positive? We’ll see…

According to Gizmodo, the upcoming Paypal application for Android (and Blackberry) will take the Bump feature from the iPhone app, letting two people “bump” phones together to initiate a money exchange. While this does seem like a fairly niche feature, the inclusion of the feature is another indication that developers are not just building great apps for the iPhone anymore, and see monetization potential in the burgeoning Android Marketplace.

To further rumours of upcoming apps, the New York Times will also be releasing an Android app eventually, which, to me, is one of the most exciting rumours I’ve heard all week, since the NYTimes iPhone app is one of my most-used app on my iPod Touch.

Motorola has released a blurb on their Facebook account claiming that the Droid update from 2.0 to 2.1 is coming along, but has been delayed to “to ensure you have the best possible experience,” whatever that means. I am quite happy I no longer have to rely on Motorola for my non-existent updates, and as much as I enjoy owning a Milestone for its beautiful screen and solid hardware, Moto has really let a lot of people down recently, and I don’t think I’ll be buying another one of their phones.
