I’ve been reading over everyone’s comments from our first giveaway, there is one app the just keeps showing up over and over – QuickLaunch. I can totally understand why; it’s a phenomenally useful application and one I’ve had for what seems like forever.

For those of you who don’t know, QL gives you the ability to access most anything on your BB all from one app. Set it to a convenience key and you can get to anything, from any screen, any time – especially useful since, unlike a certain smartphone, BB’s can multitask.

Although I mentioned in an earlier post that I need a theme with easy access to lots of icons on the homescreen, I still use QL all the time (not to mention the fact that BeNexus has a QL hotspot right on the homescreen).
Not only can you add apps to your QL menu, but it lets you add shortcuts to emails, SMS, PINs, basic BB functions (Bluetooth and WiFi Toggle, Device Info, etc) or websites. It even gives you the option to organize your shortcuts into under-defined folders.

Back when I was on my 9530, I was having some issue (so hard to keep track of them all) shortly after adding QL to my device, so I emailed the creator, NikkiSoft, to find out a bit more about the app. One of the things I learned is that there is no limit to what you can add to QL – in fact, the developer told me, in his response, that during testing he’d had well over 200 items in his QL with no lag or issues of any kind!

So I might have to halfway take back my comment about QL not being useful if you only had one app, as you could always set shortcuts to, well, to everything else on your phone.
