Ever since Apple first announced the iPad, there has been mixed emotion regarding both its name and generally how well it will do. Though historically speaking everything that comes out of Cupertino turns to gold, we decided to find out what other experts think.

TiPB reports on a recent blog post by Bill Hill, the former head of ClearType at Microsoft, who states:

“I predict it will be a huge success. It will cause the same kind of mayhem among TabletPC and eBook manufacturers that the iPod and iPhone did in their respective market categories”

He also goes on to explain one notable downsides of the iPad being: “blurs at small sizes and on lower-pitch screens like the iPad’s 132ppi. It might make sustained reading less enjoyable”

I guess time will only tell on the device’s popularity. Given how far Apple has come in such a short time in the consumer device market, getting into the computing manufacturing market should prove very successful.
