Rogers Official iPhone 4 Pricing Confirmed
Jul 29th
It has been the talk of the day and most of you know it already, but in case you were waiting for validation, you now have it.
The document above was sent internally to Rogers employees stating official pricing for both newly activated lines and upgrades (Check Rogers Redboard for eligibility details).
Also announced today was the decision to bring back the $30/6GB data plan along with allowance of sharing for iPad users (an additional $20), finally giving Rogers customers a reason to smile.
Good luck to everyone tomorrow who plans on picking one up!

Another Reason For iPhone 4′s High Resolution
Jun 12th
–The iPad!
Think about it. I can’t believe I haven’t heard this from anyone else yet! So the iPad has a 1024 x 768 pixel screen, that’s 786,432 pixels. iPhone 4 has a 960 x 640 pixel display, which is 614,400 pixels. With a little bit of math, you’ll find that the iPhone 4′s screen is about 80% of the iPad screen. When iPhone apps are invariably rewritten to take advantage of the new hardware…, it follows that the iPad version (when blown up) is going to look much better. Having limited experience with an iPad, I’m unsure how good or bad blown up apps look. My guess is that this will help ease developers that don’t really have the resources to make multiple apps. We’ll probably know more when iOS 4 apps start releasing.
Telus’ iPad Plan Has a Hard Limit of 5GB Too
May 31st
$50 for unlimited iPad data? Not so much.
Last week when Telus announced their iPad plans, it was not obvious whether, after maxing out your $20/500MB plan and paying 5c/MB thereafter, there would be a hard limit on the amount of data you can use. Low and behold, on their newly-live iPad page, they state clearly that there is a maximum of 5GB data per month included in the overage.
What does this mean? That, in theory, you are going to pay more for your 5GB plan that on any other carrier. But, if you don’t plan on using that much data, Telus’ plans are still more reasonable.
More info on their website. To see their separate Micro SIM page (which is $9.99 without a plan) head here.
Everyone’s Invited to the Party: Telus Is Go For iPad
May 30th
Not that it’s surprising, considering we’ve shown you the Telus Micro SIM already, but the West Coast-based company may have been smoking a bit too much of the ganja to release this crap. Or is it? You decide:
$20 for 500MB data (compared at $15 for 250MB on Rogers/Bell/Fido), with an additional 5c/MB up to a maximum of $30 overage (for a $50/month theoretical maximum). Now this is all well and good, but what’s to say that Telus, once people discover this convenient “loophole” and take full advantage of it, won’t change their policy and stick a soft cap onto this overage.
A word of advice, however: Bell’s current way of data activation is not through the device itself, but must be enabled and renewed via calling into their customer relations department. I did it this morning with no problems, but it’s still a hassle. This will apparently change on June 30th, and device activation will be enabled. As a result, Bell is giving their iPad customers three months of free mobile Bell TV as an incentive.
Full Telus press release after the break. If you care.

TELUS offers Data Plan for iPad with Wi-Fi + 3G in Canada
Highly anticipated device to run on Canada’s fastest 3G+ network
TORONTO, ON – TELUS announced that it is offering a dedicated data plan for iPad with Wi-Fi + 3G in Canada, beginning today. The data plan will be available without a contract, on Canada’s fastest 3G+ network.
iPad allows users to connect with their apps and content in a more intimate, intuitive and fun way than ever before. Users can browse the web, read and send email, enjoy and share photos, watch HD videos, listen to music, play games, read ebooks and much more, all using iPad’s revolutionary Multi-Touch user interface. iPad with Wi-Fi + 3G models are just 0.5 inches thick and weigh just 1.6 pounds—thinner and lighter than any laptop or netbook—and deliver up to 10 hours of battery life for surfing the web on Wi-Fi, watching videos or listening to music, and up to nine hours of surfing the web using a 3G+ data network.*
“iPad is a highly anticipated device amongst consumers and we are excited to bring it to Canadians,” said David Fuller, Chief Marketing Officer at TELUS. “This network offers access to more than 93% of Canadians, and covers more than 1.1 million square kilometers.”
iPad Wi-Fi + 3G TELUS Plan:
$20 for 500MB per month – additional data is charged at 5¢ per MB up to a maximum of $30 for a total of $50 per month. Please visit www.TELUS.com for more details.

Bell Micro SIM Emerges
May 28th
It seems like Bell’s iPad data plans were tacked on at the very last minute, as there was, unlike Rogers, very little fanfare when announced earlier this week. Here is a shot of the new Micro SIM released today in conjunction with the release of the iPad in Canada.
We have already seen Telus’ and Rogers’ versions, so here is a quick look at Bell’s offerings.
Bell Mobility Releases Rogers’ iPad 3G Price Plans
May 26th
In other words, there are no surprises here. They are offering the same amount of data for the same price:
- 250MB for $15
- 5GB for $35
Now it is unlikely that most people will go over 5GB 3G data in a month, considering the majority of usage will be at home, on WiFi. As much of a “portable” unit the iPad is, it’s just as good to curl up with on your couch and read a couple chapters of a book.
It is also likely, now, that Telus will be announcing support for the iPad in the near future, considering we’ve already seen their MicroSIMs in circulation.
Telus To Support the iPad 3G As Well?
May 25th

To date the only Canadian carrier to confirm their support of the infamous iPad 3G is Rogers Wireless. Other than being a revolutionary device, one of its key features is the new, smaller MicroSIM card (which will also be featured in the iPhone HD). Low and behold, Our friends at Mobile Syrup received spy-shots of the new MicroSIM with Telus branding. Could this be a sign of a pending announcement? Or simply stocking early for the sure-hit iPhone HD?

Spirit: One Click Jailbreaks, No Matter What You’ve Got
May 12th
Recently, Gizmodo posted a lovely, complete and comprehensive jailbreaking how to. I recently attempted jailbreaking again after a long (enjoyable) break from my last attempt a very long time ago. My attempt was embarrassing and failed. Granted, I spent about 15 minutes + the time it took to try and apply the jailbreak on the project. I am dismayed no longer. The newish Spirit jailbreak method now makes any iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad (no matter what OS version) completely jailbreakable, with one click, PC or Mac. While the jailbreak method is not new, I still implore everyone to at least give it a look as Gizmodo has philosophical and practical information on the subject.

We knew the iPad was coming “at the end of May,” but now we have an official date: May 28th, exactly three weeks from today.
Sure, if you were tenacious enough you could have already gone to the United States to purchase one, bring it back to your home country, exacto-knife a SIM into a MicroSIM and enjoy 3G connectivity through your own provider, but for the rest of the (sane) population, the official release is imminent.
We have yet to hear prices and data plans (Rogers, if you ask me to sign a contract for iPad data, I will delete you!) but I’m sure those are also forthcoming.

- iPad 16GB 3G – $679

- iPad 16GB 3G – 599€
