After months and months (and months) of rumours, speculation, and hearsay, Apple will finally announce the third-generation iPad at an invite-only event scheduled to be held in San Francisco at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts on March 7th at 10AM PST.

This very quick announcement comes on the heels of CNBC tweeting out this morning “ALERT: Quad-Core iPad 3 with 4G LTE to be unveiled in New York next week. -Sources”. Obviously Apple wanted to stifle this rumour before it could go viral.
