CES 2011: Phones Aplenty, But What Will Canada See?
There have been a lot of interesting phones released today at CES: Samsung’s Infuse 4G, Motorola’s Atrix 4G, HTC’s Intercept 4G, all for AT&T. Now, AT&T runs on the same frequency bands as Rogers, Telus and Bell in Canada and this means some fun things for us up north.
Firstly, Motorola has confirmed that the newest iPhone killer, the Motorola Atrix 4G, will be a Bell Canada exclusive. This phone is freakin’ loaded with a dual-core 1Ghz Tegra 2 processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, 5MP camera and an awesome 960×540 screen. It also has an enormous 1930mAh battery. It runs on Android 2.2 and is going to kill the remaining phones on the market.

The next one is the Samsung Infuse 4G, which is a beefier version of the currently-released Galaxy S line. It has a 1.2Ghz (single core) Hummingbird processor, 512MB RAM, 8MP camera with flash and a 4.5″ Super AMOLED plus screen, but is way thinner than most other phones out there. Rogers will likely get this one, if they play their cards right.
The Intercept 4G is essentially the Desire HD that has been released in Europe for some time, and is likely to hit Telus in Canada.
The LG Optimus 2X is competing against the Galaxy S lineup, but has a Tegra 2 1Ghz dual-core processor, beautiful 800×480 screen and shoots in 1080P on its camera. Also has a nice front-facing camera. This will be a wide release and will likely come to all major Canadian carriers.
