Now, we at TCG don’t take rumours lightly. We always weigh the value of posting one, and the potential repercussions at posting a bunk one. That being said, one of our anonymous tipsters has sent us pretty convincing proof that Rogers will be getting the BlackBerry Bold 9780 towards the end of this year, namely mid-to-late November.

If you’re curious, the BlackBerry 9780 is the immediate successor to the uber-successful BlackBerry Bold 9700 that launched last year. The upgrade will bring the device to 512MB RAM from 256MB, a 5MP camera from 3MP, and BlackBerry 6 from OS5.

All of these upgrades are rather incremental, and if you already have a 9700, I wouldn’t recommend lining up opening day, but for those stuck in the bowels of an 8310, or wishing to taste the sweet nectar of BlackBerry 6 without the undue stress of fingerprints on a touchscreen, this could be the device for you.
